There are some things in life that you set out to do, those life goals like get a job, be successful, have a family, etc. I think it's safe to say that nowhere near the top of that list, or middle for that matter, is "Review a pooper scooper on Amazon". Yet, here I am finding myself doing just that very thing. How did I find myself here, well for years I have done the shovel, small garden spade method. Let me tell you with two 50+ Norwegian Elkhounds they can be poop factories - but it was what I used and never thought different. Then one day, after a particularly fragrant gift from one of my four legged friends I sought out a better way because my gag reflex just could not stomach it any longer. That, and the neighbor who came to my backyard to see what small animal was dying due to all the noise. I am not ashamed to say I researched pooper scoopers. I looked at all manner of them. From the open top rake method, to those fancy claw machine contraptions. I shouldn't be surprised that there are so many pooper scooper options out there, but literally holy crap! I finally decided on this one for a couple reasons. The enclosed bin, with the bag is a great idea. Long enough where I don't have to bend over at all (32 Inches) Easy to store Upon receiving it, I quickly put it together loaded up the first bag and embarked on my maiden voyage into the dangerous backyard. Finding the first nugget I set the bin behind it and with a quick flip deposited said nugget safely into the bin/bag. No fuss, no mess, and no sounds of killing small animals. This wasn't so bad after all. I zipped around the yard like a ninja, flipping turd after turd into the waiting bin. No longer was I trying to strategize the firmness of the deposit, or which way upwind was. I saw a landmine and tackled it with the ferocity of a jungle cat seeing it's next meal (no I didn't eat any turds, that was a metaphor). Finally, finding the bag full, did I mention 2 Elkhounds are a literal factory of fecal matter? I uncinched the bag straps, tied them together, and poof found myself with a full bag of poo but no mess and easy to dispose of. Arm & Hammer sells extra bags for this, or you can just use normal plastic shopping bags. The handles will be a little different and may cause some issues but it should work. Humor aside, this is a really nice pooper scooper. I would have liked to see the actual rake part a little more sturdy, but for the price I can't complain all that much. It does make it extremely easy to pick up the mess, and dispose of it. I just wish I would have found this option sooner. No way am I going back to the "old" way. I highly recommend this product.
