Works great in 10 gallon nickel electroplating tank

My application is probably different than others who purchase these filters. I needed a filtration system for my 10 gallon nickel plating tank. After much trial and error with aquariums components I went through four pump/filter setups and finally found a setup that work well and doesn't disintegrate. 110 degree nickel sulfate solution is hard on aquarium equipment but I found a AquaClear Powerhead 127 GPH with attachment using these filters holds up well. It's been in constant use for nearly a year. Filter changes every two months or sooner depending on the amount of plating. Filters with carbon remove all the brightener additives from the plating electrolyte so filter selection is limited. I give these and the powerhead an AAA+ and recommend them for anyone needing filtration for small scale electroplating.

Great little water polisher

I use one of these intermittently on my 75g tank to get rid of the micro matter that floats around the tank that my canister filter doesn't filter out.

Good filter, not entirely economical.

These are used as a secondary filter source for an air jet….they work great, but do fill up fairly quickly. However, rinse them and get a few more uses. Easy to use and install. Not sure how they would work if using as main filter….small tank would need many changes in my opinion…depending on amount of fish and plant debris of course. Still solid though.

Great for what it is... and what it does

I looked forever for this filter not knowing the name and thought they don't make them anymore. I have boxes of old aquarium stuff from 40 years never without a tank. And now run a 50 gallon with my own custom system that runs thru the wall into the garage with a 3 bay household filter kit adopted to take ceramic, filter media and charcoal. hooked up to an 250gph inline filter that 40 years of experience and trial an error has produced. But then...my collage girl came home with 2 baby turtles that can crap like bunnies! And I remembered all the pain I went thru. I quickly got her up to a 20gallon tank but can't do anything crazy filterwise [ noisewize] as its in her bedroom. And being a turtle tank you can't fill it up completely. I remembered this filter I used on a powerhead years ago and hooked it up to a 80gph and just layed it down in the tank. It is pretty quite and polishes the water crystal clear with no worries of the guppies being sucked up. (Ya that's right Turtles and now Guppies that we're suppose to be food but now keep having babies of their own)- anyway, that was lacking with the dual whisper hangers I have in there. Don't expect it or plan for it to filter dibris. This is a polisher! And will get that micro stuff floating around that make your water look cloudy. And you don't really need to run it 24/7 if you don't want to. Great for what it is. And what it does.

Five stars on the product, 0 stars for the recent price hike where cost doubled overnight.

Love these things to polish the water, always keeps my tank looking good. Change as needed once they start to get really brown. Going forward I'm going to try my best to rinse thoroughly and reuse instead of replacing as I was taken aback when I went to reorder today and saw the price practically doubled (March 2022). Lets be real here, its two small cotton sleeves. Off I go to research using plain filter fiber for air driven filters in my quick filter instead of buying these anymore because this is nuts.

Love this filter.

Using an Aqua Clear filter body this filter connects easily to the powerhead without any modifications. This filter that can either be replaced as necessary or preferably rinsed under running water. I recommend rinsing only enough to restore a free flow through the filter medium. Too much rinsing can result in removal of all the beneficial bacteria. Since this filter fits over a round frame this becomes a filter tube that is approx 3/4" diameter hollow. Charcoal or other loose medium can be poured into it making it a super filter. So glad I ordered this item.

Really filters the water column

These work great but seems like I’m always changing them cause they collect a lot of junk in the water column They really do filter well Two in a pack last about three weeks each filter pad

Nice product

I use these to prepare my water for water changes an it really polishes my water I also use it to polish the water in my aquarium an I'm very happy with them you can rinse an reuse them a few times if that's what you choose to do
