works 4 well water!

The whole story - We researched water systems for months! We have a Well & the water has; iron (orange staining) manganese (gray and black specks and staining) and stinky Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell). Stressful! But we finally found a system we liked that we could install. ( it did not have this filter... we added this filter later and it is great!) We had just installed a new 3 filter system for our whole house, we have well water, iron & manganese and it almost got the job done. ISPRINGLittleWell 3-Stage Iron, Manganese Reduction 100,000 Gal. Whole House Water Filter with Sediment and Fine Carbon Block. Model # WGB32BM . We added a small spin down filter which is in a small clear housing with a screen filter in it to pre-filter the new system. Just turn the nob & rinse it as needed. Everything works great except it still did not completely remove all of the "rotten egg" smell. (in order; spin down filter 100 micron, then Big Blue 3 part set which had in this order, 1 sediment, then 1carbon block, then the 1 iron and manganese filter. So back to additional research and we found this filter. Took a chance & ordered the 20" x 4.5 inch Big blue housing and this filter (APEC Water Systems FI-KDF85-20BB 20" US Made Whole House Replacement Water Filter Iron and Hydrogen Sulfide) and finally we have clear, clean sweet tasting water! Its been a few weeks and so far so good. This filter is installed AFTER the spin down filter and the sediment filter. Just add the Big Blue housing between the spin down and the 3 part system, then simply remove the sediment filter, put this new one in its place, then drop in the sediment filter into the new Big blue. (the order should be as the water enters your filtration system; 1. spin down filter, 2. sediment filter, 3. this Apex filter, 4. carbon block where it was, 5. iron manganese where it was. note; filter 3 and filter 5 are different! If you have bad water like we did, and the rotten egg small you'll need both. I'm just a homeowner that was looking for a solution and tired of hearing conflicting information. This works for me. Good quality over all, Didn’t work on well water

It didn’t really help our sulfate issue at all on well water. Maybe this was not the right product for that. We did eventually get it resolved. Bleach shock and new softener was the fix. This review is mainly to show the inside of the unit. It is full and heavy so it get 3 starts neutral I guess.

No more sulfur smell.

We had typical strong sulfide odor from our New Hampshire well. Decided to try this filter. I currently use this in a two filter system, 30 micron sediment first and then this filter. I installed as above and drained the water heater (which smelled really bad). Smell is gone completely. Did not put any chlorine in the well. I change the 30 micron every 2-3 weeks and it always contains black sediment and foul odor. The H2S filter has been in place for three months, I plan to change it at 6 months. So far, so very good results. I had originally intended to have Culligan put in one of their systems but the cost was outragious. No need for them now. Hope this review is helpful to someone. Works as described

A bit pricey but I I guess you get what you pay for. Seems to be helping with removing iron and sulfur smell from my well water. I have noticed less of the nasty well water smell since installing this filter

30 days and $85 later

This worked for about 30 days before the water became discolored again. At first it was clear, then after a month you could see the water was no longer clear. So expensive too, I thought I'd take a chance like everyone else and see how it worked out. We have a lot of Iron in our town water. Unfortunately, this didn't make the grade.

Great tasting water.

So far so good. This filter has been in about a month and I have never been happier with my water. I have a sediment filter also and I definitely recommend using them together. I will see how long this lasts and I will update my review with that information when the time comes.

Very efficient

The filters were bought to work with our new water filter system and we are very satisfied with their efficiency. This water filter system works great, it removed the nasty odor our well water had. We are very satisfied with it.

Works as advertised

Really helped with reducing the sulphur smell. Also reduced Arsenic. I will buy more.
