Works very well , easy to install and clean. 1 problem is where do you get replacement foam filters ?

This is a great product

This is a great product. I don’t know what everybody’s complaining about first of all what more do you want in a filter but to be able to do it’s job. This filter is well constructed heavy duty and does its job as well as or better than any other filters that I’ve used. Everybody is complaining about the O ring which if you have any mechanical ability at all it’s not any problem to install. It’s tight because it is supposed to be tight otherwise it wouldn’t work in the first place. The quality and thickness of the unit the fittings, everything is as good as it gets. Now the most important thing about this product is the customer support that stands behind it. The group of people that I have spoken with at alpine couldn’t be more efficient friendly and helpful.Kudos to Shadelle. not only did she follow through on all of my questions but she even answered some questions I didn’t know I had to ask. when you buy a product the customer support is half of the value of the product. Don’t hesitate to buy anything from Alpine I know I will certainly utilize their products as much as I can in the future. And by the way I never got anything free from them this product review it’s strictly because I’m so happy with Alpine. I have two of their pumps and one filter

Jury is still out

I've had no problem with the o ring and the system works very well. No leaks, either. I am having to clean the filters every four or five days though, which seems excessive. If it goes any longer than that the waterfall slows down to a trickle. Our pond is well under 1,000 gallons, so I don't know the solution to this issue. Any suggeztions?

Worked right out of the box flawlessly

This replaced one that had been in service for 5 years but has been dry for two years and developed leaks when we put it back in service. This worked perfectly right out of the box

Nice for small pond

Small enough to be hidden, great for small pond with plants and fish.

Does Not Filter…

This is a heavy duty filter. I paid almost $100 for this item, put it in a relatively small pond, along with my current filter, and it is still green. I can’t remember the last time I saw my poor fish except when they come up to eat. We had to dig a hole and put this thing in, so I did not send it back, but I sure am disappointed that I paid all of that money for it. What a waste - it is as if I never bought it - same result as not having it at all. Don’t waste all of your money - it does not filter well , even in a very small pond.

Nice, simple functional unit, but...

Above average build quality, solid plastic construction with parts that fit well. All pressure filters can have issues with the gasket. The key is to use plumber's silicone grease (sparingly) to hold the gasket in place while installing the top unit. Had no problem. Be aware, however, that the published specs are somewhat deceptive: Maximum hose size is 1", not 1 1/2" as advertised. Although a 1 1/2" hose fill fit, it must be clamped over the ribbed inlet/outlet retaining nut. Rather than hassle with a return, I sanded the ribs off the nut with a belt sander, fit 1.5" hoses with clamps, and it works fine.

O Ring is a hassel

Getting a tight seal with the O Ring is a real pain after cleaning the filter. O Ring does not seat properly.
