Great for melanated skin

Love it put it on after my regular moisturizer and rubs in well and makes my skin glow I only use it for my face so you don’t need a lot therefore the bottle lasts a long time

My family's current go-to for base layer of protection

We love Alba as a company, and we've used most of their sunscreens at some point. This is the one we turn to right now for our first super thick layer of sunscreen for extended periods of time out in the sun. It rubs in well, doesn't leave the ghosty white time, is moisturizing without being greasy, and it smells really good. I give it 4 stars due to it not being suitable to for the face, and I'd really love to have 1 product.It will go on your face fine, but if you sweat, it can sting your eyes like nobody's business. Therefore I use a certain stick by another company that I probably can't mention here for face, especially my young son's. We rarely get any level of burn, and if we do it's usually not a product fail but, rather, a user-issue, namely forgetting to reapply in time. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. As for the rest of the day... I will admit that unless it's a windy beach day, we use the Alba Hawaiian spray for frequent-ish spot reapplications throughout the day. It's about the only way I can get my guys--large and small--to pause for a reapplication. That is also an effective product but it will leave you shiny and a little greasy. I'm fine with that for the way we use it, but for pre-dressing and heading to the car, my preference is this lotion for that reason as well. My son uses a nice roll-on product for his camp day reapplications which is easy for him to use without using half the tube, plus it can go on his face. And it won't explode in his backpack. Wish I could mention that one too. But that one is so expensive, I only buy it for the camp scenario, and I slather him in the product on this page plus that face stick every morning. I check Environmental Working Group's site for product toxicity information. They have a specific section on sunscreens. This exact product, as of this writing, rates a "2". (Scale is 0-10, lowest is least toxic) The spray version rates a "3".

Expiration date less than a year?

It’s February 2023. I just got this lotion and it expires January 2024. Not even a year. I’m gonna look in the pharmacy and see if the expiration dates are better because I feel like the price isn’t justified for it only being good 10 months. I live in Florida so I take sun care seriously. Pretty disappointed

Love this sunscreen!

I love this sunscreen and I’ve been using it for years! I have used multiple spf strengths and they all work well and longer than 80 minutes in the water. I have noticed friends using different name brands of sunscreen with the same or higher spf while we are out on the lake. After a day of fun in the sun I notice they are a little sun burnt and I am not. This sunscreen is not greasy and a little goes a long way! My skin is very Sensitive and I have had no issues whatsoever. I use this on children too. This is now the only sunscreen I use!

Overall very good, but there are things to consider...

Pros: does not contain any oxybenzone or octinoxate, so can therefore be classified as reef safe. Good formula that glides on skin well and sinks in fully and quickly, however, I've only tested it on my skin which is white. Decent price. Cruelty free company and this specific product is also vegan. Cons: Not suitable for use around the eyes. It made mine sting, although that was all, I didn't get an allergic reaction like another reviewer said they unfortunately did. Not as natural as others, since it contains octocrylene. Overall, I recommend this product and I love using it. You can't get a more 'natural' sunscreen on the market IMO, unless you were to buy a mineral based sunscreen as opposed to chemical based. I will say though as general info for anyone wondering, you can find the expiry date for this sunscreen on the back of the yellow rim at the top of the bottle. Mine came to me with 11 months until expiry, which I think is too little and I would hope that the supplier would provide customers with at least a year until expiry in the future.

Confiscated at eco park

As with other reviewers I bought to use in eco-water parks in Mexico. However, on inspection at the parks this was found to be inappropriate due to the active chemical ingredients which are not considered sufficiently benign. (Avobenzone - 3.0% (Sunscreen), Homosalate - 10.0% (Sunscreen), Octocrylene - 10.0% (Sunscreen), Octyl Salicylate - 5.0% (Sunscreen) Therefore this product was confiscated and kept in a locker and we were instead required to use solely mineral based sunscreen. When we got this product back, I found it to initially be light and easily absorbed. However after 20 minutes in hot sun I found this had transformed into a sweaty oily layer all over my skin in a way that I haven't experiences with other sunscreens.

Contains dangerous cancer causing chemicals

I should of checked ingredients properly but was fooled into thinking this was a safer product due to it saying skin cancer foundation recommends and it said no oxybenzone etc. It still has dangerous chemicals in it. I have returned it.

Did not work

Please do not buy. I bought two of these sunscreens for a two month coral reef expedition, owing to the fact they were reefsafe. I used the sunscreen a few times at the start of the trip and ended up horribly sunburned, then found some local stuff which worked fine. I used it again at the end of the trip after running out of the good stuff and am still sunburned one week later. Disappointed (also crispy).

Smells great, does the job

Love this sun cream. It smells lovely and is not sticky like many others I've tried. I have sensitive skin and did not experience a reaction but I did not use this on my face as I use a sun cream specifically designed for use on the face instead. I have red hair and very fair skin, did not get burnt when using this sun cream even during a 3 hour cycle ride in 35 degrees heat & during midday sun. Very impressed, will be buying it again.
