Buy this belt and there will be no need for another!
I'll attempt to conduct this, and all future reviews on products I buy, using the following criteria: Quality (Perceived and Actual), Durability, Price (in comparison to similar products), Relevant technical specs Quality: The quality of this belt is very high, and the components used are top-notch as well. The leather is a smooth, fine-grain leather. The belt is two pieces of leather with a PermaStiff insert sandwiched in between, which is what gives this product its superb ability to carry weight without sagging or bending. The buckle is lightly brash-polished and the matching fasteners (that hold the belt together) give it a touch of class. Verdict: 5/5 Duability: I purchased this belt on Amazon because the local retailer didn't have it in stock, nor were they able to order it anytime soon. I previously purchased a 5.11 Basketweave leather belt from a local retailer for my concealed carry and daily use, and I'm never going back to another belt! The perma-stiff insert has held up for quite a while and is still stiff, but obviously has loosened up due to daily use in the most commonly-bent areas (near the insert holes, etc). You can see this in the attached pictures as I compare my old (black) belt to the new (brown) one. The black belt has lasted me well over a year and the only signs of wear are on the leather itself from my old holster's (Crossbreed) metal clips --- no fault of the belt manufacturer at all. I won't comment to the specific durability of this (brown) belt, but since the black belt is almost identical and has held up well over the past year, I expect the same from this new belt. Tentative verdict: 5/5 Price: The price is right on point. Local retailer had this belt for $40 + tax and Amazon had it for about the same ($38.73 as of November 2014). I've seen belts go for as low as $20 to well over $100 (some of the Galco or other "high end" belts), but I firmly place my trust in this product. For a belt that I expect to last me years, $40 is a very small price to pay. Verdict: 5/5 Fitment: Since this is an article of clothing, an additional category describing fit is important. I am a 5'10.5" Male, 25 years old, with a weight of 170lbs. I wear a size 34 pant with a 32 inseam. By all observations I'm a very slender/athletic guy, and buying a belt online was a bit of a gamble as I wasn't sure it would fit right. Since I previously own a 5.11 belt, I purchased the same size (Large) for this belt. I haven't had any issues with the belt being too large or too small -- if anything, I have room on either side of my current belt loophole for growth/shrinkage. I currently use the 3rd/4th hole (counting from the middle of the belt, not the end) depending on whether or not I am carrying my holster. Verdict: 5/5 I wanted to choose a belt that would look great in my work clothes or alongside a suit, but still rigid enough for me to carry my firearm (either Glock 23, .40S&W (13+1) or S&W M&P Shield in .40S&W (7+1). This belt has served great in that purpose and I'm thrilled! I plan to purchase the black version of this belt once my current basketweave one wears out, and perhaps keep a spare on hand just in case! Never again will I be swayed at a gun show by a fast-talking salesman to buy a "premium" $50 belt that didn't even last 3 months ;) Long story short: BUY THIS BELT!! You won't regret it!

Great belt
I love 5.11 tactical belts. This is my second belt from them (my first is the black basket weave casual belt) and again I am please with my purchase. I bought this belt because I needed a strong belt to hold a firearm, flashlight, and extra magazines for my handgun, but the belt had to look good too. I wear this belt to work every day in a business casual setting and it fits in perfectly in that environment. When I get home and put on jeans this belt works as a casual belt as well. When you first get this belt you are struck by how stiff it is. The permastiff insert they use really lives up to it's name. You do need to break the belt in a little bit to make tightening it and un-tightening it easier - the belt doesn't want to flex. This id actually a good thing because when you throw on an OWB holster, your sidearm stays put and doesn't roll or droop like it would with a cheaper belt. Adding a flashlight and extra magazines to the holster adds weight, but it doesn't effect the belt at all. Your things stay put. The brass buckle is nice, and the double stitching holds up to everyday use and abuse. My original black 5.11 belt doesn't have a stitch out of place after two years of daily wearing. The one peeve I have with this belt is the hidden handcuff key pocket, which is on the inside of the belt, right in the center of the belt's length. I find if I have to thread the belt through a mag pouch belt loop, it often gets stuck on the cuff key pocket. I cut off the cuff key pocket to solve this problem. If you're looking for a nice looking belt that will stand up to heavy wear and abuse, will keep your sidearm on on your side, and a belt that looks good, you need to buy this belt. You will not regret it at all.

Avoid the black belt, brown is great
I owned this belt for exactly 9 days before I started having issues. I did not conceal carry or put under any abnormal stress outside of holding my pants up. The finish on the leather started peeling off and the grey under layer is now exposed. I have called 5.11 twice now to report the issue, both times I held for 20 plus minutes and someone answers and hangs up after a minute of silence. Not the type of service or quality I expected from 5.11. I also sent an email to them 6 days ago with no response. I also own the brown version of the casual 1.5” belt. I’ve had that for 4 months and wear it 2-3 times a week, it has held up beautifully.

A good belt
This is a very sturdy belt that will last for years. I wear a size 36 waist pants and ordered a size-L for the belt. The belt fits like a champ with plenty of spaces and holes left.

Overall stiffness is fine and it works with all pants and holsters
I wear daily for work. The finish is a little thin – it is showing some wear around the buckle after 3 weeks, even though I try to be careful when I’m putting it on so as to not scrape the finish with the buckle. Overall stiffness is fine and it works with all pants and holsters. I still think it is a little pricy for the value, but I haven’t found a suitable substitute at this point, which means I would probably buy again. I doubt I would ever use the handcuff key holder, but it is placed squarely in the back of the belt which puts it right under a belt loop. If that’s important to you, I would suggest practicing removal of the key with various pants.

Great for concealed carry and everything else
I tried the medium, as I am a 32 inch waist, and could barely get to the 3rd hole WITHOUT my IWB glock 19. Then I tried the large, and it was way too long.... So I spent $12 at a leather repair shop to have it shortened by 2 inches, and now it is perfect with or without a firearm. I use it at work everyday where I can't carry, and it is comfortable, sturdy, and looks good. When I carry, there is ZERO sag or bending-the insert does it's job. Bottom line, sizing is a bit of an issue. But for the price, plus a few bucks for modification...I have a feeling this belt will last me for a long time.
